What is different about applying to Canada from Nepal?

The Canadian rules are the same for everyone, but IRCC publishes extra instructions for Nepal. For study permits these are detailed: your financial supporter must explain where the money comes from, sign a declaration of support and prove the relationship. Large deposits with no clear origin are not accepted as reliable.

  • Biometrics: the Canada visa application centre (VAC) in Kathmandu.
  • Medical exams: IRCC panel physicians in Kathmandu.
  • Police certificate: Nepal Police, through its online clearance system.
  • Documents in Nepali need a certified English or French translation.

Which route to Canada fits most Nepali applicants?

Many young Nepali applicants study first, then work in Canada and apply for PR. Skilled workers with a degree, strong English and at least 1 year of skilled experience can enter Express Entry directly. Parents of Canadian residents can use the visitor visa or the super visa.

Studying only leads to PR if the program gives you a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) and your later score is competitive. Check both before you pay tuition.

Can I apply for Canada from Nepal without a consultancy?

Yes. Every IRCC application can be made online by the applicant, and IRCC does not require an agent. If you pay someone for Canadian immigration advice, they must be a licensed Canadian immigration consultant (RCIC) or lawyer. Education consultancies in Nepal are not licensed by Canada.
