Qatar documents for Canadian immigration

Applying from Qatar means combining Qatari documents with papers from your home country. IRCC wants proof of your Qatar status, and permanent residence needs police certificates from each country you lived in.

How do I get a Qatar police clearance for IRCC?

Apply online through Metrash using the Ministry of Interior form, and the clearance is emailed directly to IRCC. You can also apply in person, or send a friend, relative or colleague with power of attorney, to the Criminal Evidences and Information Department in Doha, or apply at a Qatari embassy.

Which documents prove my status in Qatar?

Your passport and a copy of your most recent Gulf residence visa if it is not in your current passport, as the Abu Dhabi checklists used for Qatar require. Keep your Qatar ID valid through the process, since both your residence status and your police clearance depend on it.

Do Arabic documents need translation?

Yes. Any document not in English or French needs a certified translation. The Abu Dhabi checklist singles out trade licences, which must always come with an English or French translation. Check employment letters and academic records too, and upload the original with the translation.

What home country documents will I also need?

A police certificate from your home country if you lived there six months in a row or longer since 18 within the last 10 years, plus civil records such as birth and marriage certificates. Each country has its own process on IRCC’s police certificate pages, and some need extra time.
