On October 2, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated its published processing time for study permit applications submitted from Sri Lanka.
What changed
- Previous estimate: 4 weeks
- New estimate: 5 weeks
- Difference: about 7 days longer
What this number means
Processing times are IRCC's published estimates, based on how long it took to process most applications in the recent past. They are not a guarantee for any single application, and IRCC updates them regularly. Your own application can take more or less time depending on how complete it is, whether biometrics or extra documents are needed, and the volume at the visa office.
Before you apply
See our Study Permit guide for applicants from Sri Lanka for documents, funds and common refusal reasons. If you were refused before, read how to understand your refusal letter before reapplying.
