How much proof of funds do Ghanaians need for Express Entry?

A single Federal Skilled Worker candidate needs CAN$15,263, about GHS 125,600 at September 2026 rates. The money must be yours, available when you apply and when a visa is issued, and not borrowed. Each bank must give a letter with balances, six-month averages and debts.

Does my Ghanaian work experience count?

Yes, if it is paid, skilled work in TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3, earned in the last 10 years, with at least one year continuous or 1,560 hours. For CRS, foreign work experience only adds points when paired with strong language scores or Canadian experience, up to 50 points.

How do I get a Ghana police clearance for Canada?

Apply at CID Headquarters in Accra. Residents bring a passport, the fingerprint check form and the fee. If you no longer live in Ghana, send the nominal vetting form, photos, passport data page, parents’ names, address, last school and fingerprints, usually through a friend or relative acting for you.

Which English test should a Ghanaian candidate take?

IRCC accepts IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General and PTE Core for English. IELTS Academic does not count. English is the official language in Ghana, but IRCC still requires an approved test for every candidate. Reaching CLB 9 roughly doubles the skill transferability points for foreign work experience.

Why applications from Ghana get refused

These are the grounds IRCC officers most often write in refusal letters for this kind of application. They are typical grounds, not statistics. Fix them before you apply, not after.

  • Reference letters did not show the duties of the NOC claimed in the profile.
  • Proof of funds was borrowed, recently deposited without explanation, or not in the applicant’s name.
  • A required police certificate was missing.

Express Entry (PR) from Ghana: FAQ

IRCC asks for certificates only for time since age 18. Ghana issues certificates only to people who lived there for three months or more.
That is not enough. The letter must show your title, dates, hours, salary and duties so the officer can match it to your NOC.
IRCC advises starting once your profile is in the pool, since certificates can take a long time.
