Canada super visa for parents in Nigeria

A super visa lets Nigerian parents and grandparents stay in Canada up to five years at a time. The Lagos visa office lists extra documents for it, and the medical exam must be done with an IRCC panel physician in Nigeria.

Who can apply for a super visa from Nigeria?

Parents and grandparents of a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or registered Indian who is at least 18, lives in Canada and meets the minimum necessary income. You must apply from outside Canada, pass an immigration medical exam and buy private health insurance valid for at least one year from entry.

Where do Nigerian parents do the super visa medical?

Only with a physician on IRCC’s panel list. In September 2026 the list showed panel physicians in Lagos and Abuja, including the IOM Migration Health Assessment Centre in Abuja. The Lagos checklist allows the medical either up front or after IRCC sends instructions. Check the live list before booking.

What insurance does the Lagos office accept?

The policy must give at least CAN$100,000 of coverage, last one year, and include hospitalization and repatriation. IRCC accepts insurance from a Canadian insurance company or from a company outside Canada approved by the minister. A Nigerian travel policy that is not approved will not meet the rule.

What does my child in Canada need to send?

A signed invitation letter and proof that their income meets the minimum necessary income for the family size. The Lagos checklist names a statement of remuneration paid or financial statements prepared by a licensed professional. Proof of your parent and child relationship, such as birth certificates, is also required.
